Rumberger Kirk & Caldwell Attorneys Adds Three New Florida Attorneys
ORLANDO, FL -- Rumberger, Kirk & Caldwell recently hired three new associates in its Florida offices: Jason K. Whittemore in Tampa, Nicole Sieb Smith in Miami, and Joshua R. Brown in Orlando.
Whittemore represents clients in casualty defense, products liability defense, commercial litigation and criminal defense, including white-collar crimes. He defends clients against claims involving premises liability, general negligence and other tort allegations. In his product liability practice, Whittemore defends manufacturers and distributors of passenger cars and trucks, tires, consumer products, industrial equipment, and industrial products. He also handles a variety of commercial litigation matters including claims for breach of contract, real estate disputes, claims of breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, and tortuous interference.
Prior to joining the firm, Whittemore was a prosecutor with the United States Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division where he investigated and prosecuted various white-collar crimes. He graduated from the University of Florida in 2003 with a B.A. in Business Administration. In 2006, Whittemore earned a J.D. and M.B.A. concurrently from Stetson University College of Law, graduating cum laude.
Smith represents clients in commercial litigation, insurance coverage, casualty defense, professional liability and appellate matters. She handles general commercial litigation cases involving breach of contract and fraud. Smith is also part of a team of lawyers that handles commercial foreclosure and other real estate litigation matters. She has represented several attorneys in complex legal malpractice actions.
Prior to joining the firm, Smith practiced at an established litigation firm in Miami. Smith earned a J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law, graduating magna cum laude, in 2005. She received a B.A., cum laude, from Smith College in 1996. Smith is also active with the Student Education and Admissions to the Florida Bar Committee, presently serving as its vice-chair.
Brown’s practice includes commercial and product liability litigation for national and international clients. He has particular experience in patent and copyright infringement litigation and has prosecuted patents before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. In 2007, Brown represented Sprint in its suit against Vonage in the District of Kansas. He worked on the damages side of this case, which resulted in the 4th largest patent verdict in the country in 2007.
Brown earned a J.D. from the University of Florida Levin College of Law, magna cum laude, in 2004. Prior to attending law school in Florida, Brown worked as a Software Developer and Technology Consultant in Boston, Massachusetts. In 1997, he graduated from Brown University with a degree in Computer Science.
