The Joseph P. Milton Professionalism and Civility Award: Daniel “Dan” J. Gerber

The Florida Chapters of the American Board of Trial Advocates proudly announces the selection of Daniel J. Gerber as this year’s recipient of the Joseph P. Milton Professionalism and Civility Award.

Dan is a shareholder with the firm of Rumberger, Kirk & Caldwell in Orlando where has engaged in a complex trial practice for the past 28 years.  During that time, Dan’s reputation for professionalism, civility and the highest ethical standards has been forged. While always aggressively advocating on behalf of his clients, Dan has earned the respect of his colleagues and opponents through the degree of integrity that he exhibits at all times, never sacrificing his high ethical standards or professionalism for the sake of a quick victory.

Dan embodies the characteristics central to a recipient of the Joseph P. Milton Professionalism and Civility Award, as can be seen in his service to our schools, our community, and the Bar. Volunteering several hours at a local high school, Dan has taught students about the civil justice system, concepts of contract law, and business dispute resolution.

Dan has also participated in the development of trial lawyers at the law school level, too. Dan has served as a judge for the University of Florida’s annual trial competition more than a dozen times over his career.  Dan has also volunteered his time as a judge at various local and statewide team competitions.

In promoting education regarding the civil justice system, volunteering his time to help advance that system through committee engagement, and aiding individuals in need with the process of navigating that system, all while maintaining the highest ethical and professionals standards of practice, Dan has demonstrated a commitment to the principles that led to the creation of this award.
