Kevin Gowen Elected Chair of the Southern Region Executive Council for the Commercial Law League of America
Kevin Gowen was elected Chair of the Southern Region Executive Council for the Commercial Law League of America (“CLLA”) at the CLLA’s annual convention in Chicago earlier this month. The CLLA is North America’s oldest creditors’ rights organization whose members are professionals engaged in the practice of creditors' rights law and those who also serve the credit industry in other commercial legal matters. The Southern Region Executive Council covers fourteen U.S. states and Mexico.
Gowen was also appointed to the CLLA’s Nominating Council, which vets candidates for various positions on the CLLA’s Board of Governors. In addition to these new offices, Gowen will continue to serve on the board of editors for Commercial Law World Magazine, the CLLA’s official publication in which he recently published an article regarding the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s enforcement of the Dodd-Frank Act and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act against creditors and their attorneys.
In his practice, Gowen represents clients in commercial litigation matters, including collections and breach of contract claims. He represents corporate creditors including financial corporations, construction companies, and health care providers. Gowen handles all stages of creditor’s rights claims, from the initiation of a lawsuit to post-litigation proceedings to enforce a final judgment. He also devotes a portion of his practice to the domestication and enforcement in Florida of final judgments entered in other states against Florida debtors.
