Rumberger Adds Seasoned Duo to Orlando Office: Lan Kennedy-Davis and Brad Davis

ORLANDO, Fla., May 21, 2018 – Rumberger, Kirk & Caldwell is pleased to announce the addition of Lan Kennedy-Davis as a Partner and Bradley J. Davis as Of Counsel to the firm’s Orlando office. Kennedy-Davis and Davis join Rumberger after 14 years of managing their own firm, Davis & Kennedy, P.A. The team brings extensive litigation experience, as well as substantial business transactional and corporate tax capabilities to Rumberger.

Lan Kennedy-Davis

Kennedy-Davis’ practice focuses on general and complex litigation, including business disputes, bankruptcy litigation and family law matters. Her legal accomplishments include a $100 million claim involving the crashes of F-16 fighter jets, a $2.3 billion environmental claim concerning a Superfund site and a $500,000 patent claim involving bar codes used on products.

In addition, she counsels clients in all aspects of daily legal operations, serving as general counsel to businesses which need guidance on business formation, growth strategies and sale or acquisition.

Prior to forming Kennedy & Davis, P.A., she served as corporate counsel for United Technologies Corporation, a $60 billion conglomerate, and as Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel to Recoton Corporation, an $800 million publicly traded company which was then the world’s largest consumer electronics accessories company. She was also Chief Legal Officer and later promoted to Chief Executive Officer of Signeo USA LLC d/b/a Soul by Ludacris, where she nurtured the company from formation to sale. Additionally, Kennedy-Davis has experience at the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, France and serves corporate clients worldwide.

She is a recipient of the Daughters of American Revolution Award, Joseph Tauber Scholarship Award and the U.S. Navy Athlete / Scholar Award.

A first-generation Vietnamese immigrant, Kennedy-Davis graduated at the top of her class and was awarded a scholarship to Trinity College, where she earned her undergraduate degree. She earned her law degree from the University of Connecticut, School of Law. She is licensed in Florida and Connecticut.

Bradley J. Davis

Davis counsels clients in tax, estate planning and administration, business planning, including formations, reorganizations, private securities offerings under federal and state securities laws, mergers, acquisitions and sales purchases of businesses. His clients include entrepreneurs, high net-worth individuals and private companies, whom he assists with operational legal issues as well as transactions, exit strategies, succession and estate planning.

Davis represents individuals and businesses before the Internal Revenue Service and the U.S. Tax Court in connection with employment taxes, collection of assessed income taxes, innocent spouse issues, and issues regarding the characterization of income as ordinary versus capital gain, changes in accounting methods, unreasonable compensation issues, independent contractor versus employee status, and additions to tax and penalties, including failure to file and accuracy related penalties.

Davis has served on the Advisory Board of the College of William & Mary Thomas Jefferson Program on Public Policy, on the board of directors for the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida, Inc. and on the Board of Directors of Freedom Ride, Inc. He is the former Chairman of the Board of Trustees of La Amistad Foundation, Inc., and a past president of the Central Florida Chapter of the Leukemia Society of America.

He earned his undergraduate degree in accounting from The College of William & Mary, and his law degree and Master of Laws in Taxation from the University of Florida, College of Law.
