Linda Bond Edwards Discusses Bus Driver Overtime

Linda Bond Edwards discussed bus driver overtime at the Florida Educational Negotiators (FEN) meeting on March 1 in Tallahassee. During the presentation, she addressed the necessity for school districts to:

  • Properly classify employees as exempt or non-exempt
  • Ensure that salaried non-exempt employees are paid overtime correctly
  • Pay overtime to employees who work more than 40 hours in a workweek if they work more than one job (custodian and bus driver, bus driver and food service worker, etc.)
  • Compensate bus drivers for out of town trips
An experienced litigator practicing in the area of labor and employment law for more than 20 years, Edwards also draws on her experiences as a former Director of Human Resources to provide guidance and understanding of the employee/employer relationship.
