In an article that published in TechTarget on June 12, Suzanne Singer discusses the role of Human Resources in workplace violence preparedness through implementing programs and technology to help prevent and respond to an incident.

“HR is the first line of defense," Singer shares. “They have the responsibility to ensure employees work in a safe environment." HR's work begins with hiring. This includes background investigations, reference checking and analysis of social media postings. Employees should feel comfortable reporting problematic behaviors, she said.

Developing a collaborative environment to improve employee experience is part of it. She shares, "The more likely you have a satisfied employee, the less likely they're going to act out.”
