From Floater to Fixture: Lora Trowell’s 25-Year Journey at RumbergerKirk

This month marks a special milestone for Lora Trowell—25 years with RumbergerKirk. From her first day as a fresh graduate with a legal assisting degree to her current role as a seasoned paralegal, Lora’s journey with the firm is one filled with growth, camaraderie, and unforgettable experiences.

Lora got her start as a “floater,” stepping in wherever she was needed. That flexibility led her to a pivotal assignment: filling in as interim secretary for the retired secretary of one of the firm’s founding partners, Bud Kirk. What was supposed to be a temporary role became a defining chapter in her career.

“I floated into that position, and he decided to keep me,” she recalls. “I ended up being part of his trial team for many years.”

Lora’s memories from the courtroom could fill a book—though don’t expect her to spill the details. “Anyone who has been to trial knows the Golden Rule,” she laughs. “‘What goes on the road, stays on the road.’”

Over the years, Lora has seen young associates grow into partners, and she’s worked alongside many of them as part of trial teams. “I’ve had the opportunity to work with so many talented attorneys. They each bring a unique style to the practice of law, and I really appreciate how collaborative they are. They always make me feel like a valued member of the team.”

A self-proclaimed lifelong learner, Lora values the chance to keep developing professionally. “I appreciate the continuing opportunities to grow and learn,” she says. “That’s part of what’s kept me here for 25 years.”

Outside of work, Lora and her husband share a love of travel and the outdoors. This year took them skiing in Park City, Utah. Next up: Italy with their son, who will be graduating from the University of Central Florida in 2026. Family vacations are often filled with hiking, nature, and adventure.

Congratulations, Lora, on 25 incredible years!
