This week in the Orlando office has been one of the busiest, and most rewarding, yet! Between preparing for an upcoming trial, participating in a motion workshop, and soaking up advice from some of the firm’s most experienced litigators, I’ve learned so much.

One of the major highlights was our motion workshop led by Partner Dan Gerber, with Partner Steve Klein playing the opposing counsel. Arguing against Steve was a lot of fun, though it quickly became clear that none of us stood a chance. Watching him in action was inspiring, and it reinforced something I now feel strongly about: I always want to be on his side of the courtroom. The workshop gave us practical courtroom experience, sharpened our oral advocacy skills, and helped us think on our feet in an exciting way.
After the workshop, we had the opportunity to grab lunch with Dan , where we got to know him better and hear about his accomplished career. He has been with RumbergerKirk for over thirty years, and he shared some incredible stories about the unique cases and clients he’s worked with along the way. His passion for litigation and genuine investment in the next generation of attorneys came through in every word.
Back at the office, things were in full swing as we supported a team preparing for trial next week. Julia and I were pulled into a variety of tasks and exposed to aspects of trial prep we had never seen before! It’s been an “all hands on deck” kind of week, and working alongside Julia again reminded me just how well we collaborate under pressure.
This week has been a perfect example of how dynamic and immersive the RumbergerKirk summer program truly is. Whether in the courtroom or the conference room, we’re getting a firsthand look at what it means to be a litigator, and I’m grateful every day to be learning from some of the very best.
P.S. The Orlando orchids are no longer alive and well… but we’re working on it! Emergency measures have been taken, so please keep our orchids in your thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery! My orchid’s name “Doomed” is more and more fitting by the day.
