Double Header Mediations

Week 4

Week four was busy. It was challenging yet rewarding. We had a writing competition due on Friday, so most of the week consisted of reading, writing, and drafting the motion for the competition. It was an interesting motion and consisted of an issue that I had never worked on before. I am proud of myself for completing it, while still working on other assignments and meeting deadlines.

Loving this summer program!

On Thursday, Serena presented case briefs during lunch, and she did amazing! It was fun to see her in front of everyone and hear the cases from her point of view. She is so calm when she presents, and it looked like she was not nervous at all. I need to take notes!

On Friday, Serena and I were able to observe two mediations with partners Suzanne Singer and Scott Sarason. They were interesting to watch. I sat in on a few of Scott’s calls leading up to his mediation, so it felt exciting to see how those strategies played out. These were the first mediations I had ever attended, so getting to observe two in one day was a great learning experience. Each day I am feeling more prepared and confident in myself, which are two big goals of mine throughout this work experience. I cannot wait to see what the rest of the summer holds!
