This past week was my first full week in the office, and it was a great experience from start to finish. I had the chance to settle into a routine and get involved in some real cases. Several attorneys asked me to help with research assignments, and it was clear they weren’t just looking for case law. They actually wanted to hear my analysis and consider my input about the issues. One attorney even asked me to assist with preparing for an upcoming hearing by reviewing the case, anticipating potential questions from the judge, and highlighting the strongest arguments the other side might make. It’s been exciting to know that my input is valued and that I’m contributing to meaningful work.

One of the best parts of my first week was getting to sit in on a deposition. It was fascinating to watch the attorneys in action and see how the questions were structured so strategically. Then, this past week, I attended a mediation. We weren’t expecting anything particularly exciting to happen going in, but it turned out to be a rather eventful four hours. The experience helped me understand how much happens outside the courtroom and how important preparation and flexibility are in practice.
Every day, I feel like I’m learning something new. Whether I’m researching an unfamiliar area of law, observing the practical side of litigation, or talking through legal issues with an attorney, I’m constantly gaining insight into how the law works in the real world. I can’t wait to see what kind of projects and experiences are ahead. If the first couple of weeks are any indication, this summer will be a great opportunity to grow, learn, and work with purpose.
