Week 1

After anticipating this summer internship at RumbergerKirk for months, the time has finally come!  It was time to travel to Orlando to start orientation. I checked in at the AC Hotel and went upstairs to eat dinner on their beautiful rooftop and watch the sunset. I could not wait to head to the office the next morning and meet all of the other summer associates!

On Tuesday morning, I made my short walk over to the office and was immediately greeted with a delicious breakfast spread. All of the summer associates had the opportunity to meet everyone in the office, and it was amazing to see how many attorneys were once summer associates! It made all of us feel incredibly welcomed and hopeful that one day it would be us greeting the new classes of summer associates.

An office with a great view!

Around lunch time, we went to The Boheme with associates Meghan Kennedy and Hannah Clark. It was a great opportunity to ask them about their experience at the firm and advice for our upcoming summer. After lunch, we continued to work through our training schedule which included time keeping and billing, research, writing, grammar, and proofreading seminars, as well as multiple computer training sessions. After a long day of learning the ropes, the summer associates, and multiple other associates in the office, went to Reyes Mezcaleria for dinner. We all shared guacamole and queso – it was a perfect end to the day!

After finishing up some final paperwork the next day, it was time for me to head back to Tampa!

By Thursday morning, I was on my way to the Regions Tower and ready to get to work. Everyone in the office was excited to have me here and even more excited to show me the amazing view from my office. My favorite part is having my name outside the door – I feel like an attorney already! I worked on my training videos, went to lunch with the associates, and even had a happy hour in the office just for me. I cannot wait to see what next week brings!
