RumbergerKirk partner, Rebecca Beers, was named president of the Birmingham Bar Association in December and recently she shared some insights with the Birmingham Business Journal.
The association recently surpassed 3,100 members for the first time, and Beers mentioned she plans to focus on offering meaningful programs that celebrate lawyers, leadership and the history of the legal profession in Birmingham. She discussed how she plans to include continuing education programs on civil rights history, female lawyer trailblazers and Birmingham’s role in the Alabama Supreme Court, along with a day of service on Martin Luther King Jr. Day and classroom outreach for Law Day 2026.
Beers shared that she hopes to introduce new initiatives that address current trends shaping the legal industry, including the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI). She is working with local judges to develop educational programs that support proper AI use while reinforcing core legal skills. In addition, her goals include hosting judicial candidate forums, screening a documentary on Alabama history and continuing expanding high-value programming that supports members, strengthens community connections and helps prepare lawyers for the future.
