In an admitted liability tractor-trailer accident case, a Pinellas County jury rejected more than $2 million in damages sought by the plaintiff and instead returned a verdict of $76,635.02.

Although the defendant driver rear-ended the plaintiff’s stopped vehicle, the jury closely scrutinized the claimed injuries and damages. After deliberating for two and a half hours, the jury awarded only $71,635.02 in past medical expenses and $5,000 in future medical expenses, found no permanent injury, and awarded $0 for pain and suffering.

The Tampa trial team was led by Tampa partner Michael Forte and attorney Renee Duffy. Because the plaintiff rejected defendants’ $125,000 proposal for settlement, defendant will be entitled to attorney’s fees, resulting in a judgment in the defendant’s favor.
