Week 1

First week is officially complete! Monday through Wednesday was spent in the Orlando Office, where we had several training sessions and got to meet the whole Orlando team. It was especially nice to meet the other four summer associates that will be working in the Orlando, Tallahassee, and Tampa offices. Wednesday after training was a travel day back to Miami, and Thursday was my first day in the Miami office. As you can see, I was surprised with a beautiful orchid and an amazing office view. This past week has consisted of socializing, learning, workshops, lunches, and happy hours. I loved every minute of it! Everyone is so welcoming and kind, and I could not be more excited for what is to come this summer.

Great start to a great program.

Within my first two days of working, I was able to attend and observe two hearings with partner Doug Ede. He explained the entire background of the case and I really got a feel for what he was arguing in the hearings and why. The time he spent explaining the case to both Serena and me made us both feel like he cared about our experience and wanted us to fully understand what was going on. It was very helpful and appreciated. On Friday, I received my first assignment from partner Suzanne Singer, a motion, and she also took the time to explain the issue and made it apparent that she wanted to help me do my best on the assignment. I cannot believe I already get to start writing so early into the summer. Overall, I can tell that this summer will be filled with many practice opportunities and real-life working experiences. Stay tuned for next week!
