Hearing, Motion Practice and More

Week 6

Last week was busy. To start off the week, Serena and I attended a special set hearing with Partner Suzanne Singer. It concerned a case I had worked on before, so it was easy to follow along since I already knew the background facts. Serena and I then prepped for our Motion Workshop on Tuesday. We each had to prepare and present our argument at a 15 minute “mock hearing” in front of Partners Steve Klein and Dan Gerber. I was extremely nervous; however, I felt so relieved and proud of myself when it was over!

Having a great time and learning so much!

On Tuesday night, the associates took Serena and I to Batch, a restaurant here in Brickell, for happy hour. It was nice catching up with everyone outside of the office and we all talked about our Fourth of July plans.

On Thursday, it was my turn again to prepare and present two case briefs at lunch. This took a bit of prep, as I wanted to be as relaxed as I could when giving the presentation (or at least look relaxed). The presentation went well and that is my last one for the summer! I cannot believe we are only a few weeks away from the end of our time here. This summer has truly flown by, and I feel like I have learned so much, already. We are off to the Tampa Office next week to learn opening and closing statements for the mock trial. Wish us luck!
