Leonard Dietzen Receives Outstanding Service Award from the Florida Educational Negotiators during its 38th Annual Conference

Dietzen also delivered three presentations to the group during the conference

Earlier this month, the Florida Educational Negotiators (FEN) Board of Directors and the Executive Director presented an Outstanding Service Award to Leonard J. Dietzen during the 2018 Annual conference in Orlando Florida on May 15, 2018. Dietzen attended the conference and gave three presentations to their members on HR and new Legislation impacting school boards. Mr. Dietzen has maintained a close relationship with the members of FEN for over 15 years. Dietzen also represents many members of FEN in union negotiations.

Dietzen’s presentations during the conference included:

  • Will Your Instructional Unit Survive HB 7055? –Discussion about how HB 7055 will impact bargaining units. Dietzen also discussed the process of certification and the timeline of renewal.
  • How the School Safety Act Will Impact Your District –Dietzen addressed the School Safety Act (Senate Bill 7026) and how this new legislation will impact school districts. Dietzen discussed school resource officers, school safety officers and the guardian program, as well as other issues.
  • What to Do Before the #MeToo Claim Hits Your Agency – Dietzen addressed what steps districts should take before a complaint of harassment or discrimination is made. He encourages districts to consider conducting an audit of district policies and procedures in this area to minimize risk to the district.
