Meghan Kennedy Marcus Featured as Markham Woods Neighbors Magazine’s August Woman of Influence
Meghan Kennedy Marcus was recently featured as Markham Woods Neighbors magazine’s August Woman of Influence, highlighting the personal and professional experiences that shaped her path to becoming an attorney.
A longtime Central Florida resident, Meghan discusses how growing up in a family of attorneys, serving as a summer intern for the Honorable Judge Debra S. Nelson at the Seminole County Circuit Court and later interning for U.S. Senator Marco Rubio helped inspire her commitment to advocacy, community service and helping others through the law.
The profile explores Meghan’s perspective on women in the legal profession, particularly women of minority descent, and her own experience breaking barriers. While attending the University of Florida levin College of Law, Meghan became the first president of Asian descent of the Florida Moot Court team. Reflecting on her willingness to embrace opportunities, she shared, “I’ll take on every challenge I get to break the glass ceiling.”
Today, Meghan handles complex commercial litigation, corporate transactional matters and intellectual property law. Throughout her education and career, preparation, service and a willingness to step forward have remained consistent themes. From competing on moot court and trial teams to being named Best Advocate in RumbergerKirk’s mock trial competition as a summer associate, Meghan has continued to seek opportunities to strengthen her skills and grow as an advocate.
She also credits several influential women with helping shape her personally and professionally, including Judge Nelson, attorney Suzanne Hill and, most importantly, her mother, Lan Kennedy-Davis.
For Meghan, those experiences have also shaped how she views the responsibility that comes with practicing law. “Being a lawyer is not just a job. It is a position of influence that gives me a platform to help others,” she said.
