Rumberger’s Paul Lipton Receives High Honors for Pro Bono Work

Paul Lipton, the Director of Professionalism, Career and Skill Development for RumbergerKirk, recently received the 2016 Richard C. Milstein Excellence Award from Dade Legal Aid/Put Something Back during the Dade County Bar Association’s Annual Recognition Luncheon in Miami. Named after a champion of pro bono causes, the honor recognizes Lipton’s contributions to initiatives and causes to enrich the community and the legal profession.

“Paul Lipton’s conduct and passion for helping others reflects and honors the integrity, humility, compassion, and professionalism of the award’s namesake,” said Karen Landis, Executive Director of Legal Aid. “He is an avid pro bono attorney,  author, and mentor to hundreds.”

A respected trial attorney with more than 40 years of experience, Lipton serves as the firm’s Director of Professionalism, Career and Skill Development and works with the associates to mentor them in honing their skills, discovering their passions and finding successful personal growth.

A sought-after lecturer, Lipton is viewed as an authority on legal professionalism. He currently serves as the Co-Chair of the Eleventh Circuit Committee on Professionalism in Miami-Dade County. Lipton has co-hosted "fireside chats" where he meets with groups of attorneys to have an open and candid conversation about professionalism and other challenges in the legal profession.

Lipton is an inspirational author who recently published the book, “Hour of the Wolf-An Experiment in Ageless Living,” which chronicles his personal journey in finding his own personal fulfillment and living a life of purpose.

During his legal career, Lipton tried numerous jury and non-jury trials in complex commercial, probate, estate and trust litigation involving national and international companies. His areas of law included: complex commercial litigation, real estate and land use litigation, probate and trust and estate litigation, and legal ethics and professional liability.

He earned a law degree from Washington University School of Law in St. Louis.
