RumbergerKirk Partner Scott Williams

Scott Williams has been named a Distinguished Fellow of the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors (AIRA), a recognition honoring professionals whose contributions have made a lasting impact on the restructuring and insolvency profession.

The designation comes as Scott also prepares to serve as president-elect of the organization, further reflecting his longstanding involvement and leadership within the restructuring community.

According to AIRA, the Distinguished Fellows designation recognizes professionals whose work has advanced the restructuring and insolvency profession through leadership, education, service, and long-term contributions to the industry. Fellows are recognized not only for professional excellence, but also for helping shape the future of the profession through mentoring, speaking, writing, and organizational leadership.

AIRA’s Board of Directors noted that the honor recognizes individuals who exemplify “the highest level of excellence in professional practice” and whose work has left a “significant positive legacy” on both the profession and the organization. Scott will be formally recognized as part of the 2026 Distinguished Fellows class during AIRA’s annual conference this month and again during the organization’s Advanced Restructuring & POR Conference in the fall.

“Scott’s recognition as an AIRA Distinguished Fellow and his appointment as president-elect reflect not only his work on behalf of clients, but also the meaningful contributions he has made to the restructuring profession over many years,” Frank Sheppard, RumbergerKirk managing partner said. “He has dedicated significant time and expertise to both his clients and the profession, and it is rewarding to see that commitment recognized at this level.”

Scott said the recognition carries special meaning because of the relationships and professional experiences built throughout his involvement with AIRA.

“Being named an AIRA Distinguished Fellow and elected president-elect is a tremendous honor,” Scott shared. “I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the organization and help support the professionals who strengthen our industry every day.”

Scott focuses his practice on bankruptcy, creditors’ rights, insolvency-related litigation and commercial litigation, representing clients in complex restructuring matters throughout the Southeast and beyond.
