The FAMU College of Law Mentoring Committee hosted a virtual program focused on “Professionalism and Professional Identity.”  The conversation began with the guest speakers including RumbergerKirk partner Steve Klein, sharing their own experiences and advice on professionalism.

Steve shared the following takeaways:

• Professionalism in the age of social media can be difficult.  Social media is a tool that can be used for growth, but it is important to recognize that “personal” posts can impact how other professionals and the public view you. 
• Candor, Courtesy, and Competence are critical components of professionalism, particularly candor when it comes to applications for admission to the Florida Bar or for employment with a government agency.
• Maintaining professional communication and tempering kneejerk reactions and quick emotional responses will go a long way.
