The Dade Legal Aid Leadership Academy, now known as the Robert C. Josefsberg Leadership Academy, is designed to cultivate, educate and advance the next generation of leaders in the legal profession. Recently renamed in honor of the late Robert C. Josefsberg, the program recognizes a revered trial attorney, mentor and widely respected figure whose legacy continues to shape the legal community.

RumbergerKirk attorneys Katherine Becerra and Daniella Escobio have been selected to join Class IX of the Academy. Their selection is especially meaningful as they are part of the first class to participate following the Academy’s renaming in honor of Josefsberg. Known for his presence in the courtroom and his dedication to mentoring others, Josefsberg approached the profession with integrity, humility and a deep commitment to serving those most in need.

The Academy brings together a select group of attorneys for a comprehensive leadership experience, offering opportunities to engage with members of the judiciary, leaders of the bar and peers across a wide range of practice areas.

Through this program, participants build lasting relationships while gaining insight into leadership, professionalism and service within the legal community. Katherine and Daniella both shared their thoughts as they prepare to attend:

“In preparation for the Academy, I’m most excited about the chance to learn from accomplished leaders within the judiciary and the bar, and gain insight from their experiences and perspectives,” Katherine shared. “I hope to better understand the qualities that have helped guide them in their roles as leaders in our community.”

“I’m most excited about applying my legal training in a service-oriented way, particularly through programs like Guardian ad Litem. “The opportunity to advocate for children and support their stability is deeply meaningful, and I look forward to learning from leaders in the judiciary and the bar while building lasting connections with my peers,” Daniella added.

Through their participation, Katherine and Daniella will carry forward not only the mission of the Academy, but also the spirit in which Josefsberg approached the profession. Their selection reflects a commitment to leadership, service and continued growth within the legal community.
