Keeping Tabs on the COVID Crisis

Employees across the country are filing lawsuits for employer failure to provide adequate personal protective equipment (PPE), failure to follow the notice requirements, and specific provisions of the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) and terminating employees for absences due to self quarantine.

During a webinar sponsored by the Labor and Employment Law Section of the Florida Bar, Linda Bond Edwards discussed the labor and employment law challenges that employers faced during 2020 caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.  She noted that while employment cases filed in federal court have decreased, Florida is in the top five states for COVID-related employment litigation.
