Rebecca Beers Elected Secretary/Treasurer of the Birmingham Bar Association's Young Lawyers Section

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – December 21, 2015 – Rebecca A. Beers, an associate in the Birmingham office of RumbergerKirk, was elected Secretary/Treasurer of the Birmingham Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section. The Birmingham Bar Association has more than 4,000 members and is one of the oldest local bar associations in the country. The Young Lawyers Section provides social and continuing education programming for the benefit of newer members of the legal profession and raises funds to support local charitable organizations. Prior to her election as an officer, Beers served as a member of the Section’s Executive Committee.

Beers focuses her legal practice in the areas of securities litigation and commercial litigation. She represents broker-dealers as well as institutional investors in state and federal courts and in FINRA arbitration, in a variety of disputes such as raiding claims, violations of non-competition agreements, clearing broker liability claims, suitability claims, and fraud claims. She also has substantial experience in complex commercial litigation, including class actions, gaming litigation, casualty, and employment matters.

Among her many professional and community awards, Beers was named Birmingham-Southern College’s Outstanding Young Alumni for 2012 and was selected as one of B-Metro Magazine’s 2013 Rising Stars of the Bar. Most recently, she was selected as a member of Class XI of the Alabama State Bar Leadership Forum, was named a Super Lawyers Rising Star in Securities Litigation for 2014 and 2015, and was selected as one of the Birmingham Business Journal’s “Rising Stars of the Bar” for 2015.

Beers serves as President of the Birmingham-Southern College National Alumni Association and as a member of the Birmingham-Southern College Board of Trustees. She is also a member of the Rotaract Club, Junior League of Birmingham, and the Young Supporters Board of UAB’s Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Beers earned her law degree, cum laude, from the Washington & Lee University School of Law.
