During a presentation for the Tallahassee Chapter of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Richard Greenberg provided an update on recent ethics issues including:

  • Recent ethics opinions from the American Bar Association (ABA) and The Florida Bar on how an attorney may ethically respond to online criticism.
  • A discussion about ABA Formal Opinion 494 and the impact of “friendships” with prosecutors on criminal defense counsel’s ability to continue to represent a client.
  • Examples of misconduct by criminal defense attorneys which led to attorney discipline.
