Rumberger Attorney David Willis Appointed as Incoming Chair of The Florida Bar Construction Law Certification Committee

ORLANDO, Fla. – March 24, 2015 – David C. Willis was recently appointed by The Florida Bar President-Elect, Ramon Abadin, as Chair of the Construction Law Certification Committee. Willis’ position takes effect July 1, 2015. He is Florida Bar Board Certified in both Business Litigation and Construction Law.

The Construction Law Certification Committee is responsible for reviewing certification applications as well as preparing and grading the certification exams. Willis has been on the Construction Law Certification Committee since 2010 and currently serves as Vice Chair.

For nearly 30 years, Willis, a partner in the Orlando office of RumbergerKirk, has been working with business owners, high-level executives, general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and designers to help resolve business-to-business disputes. His work entails all aspects of the construction process, intellectual property disputes including patents, trade secrets, trademarks and copyrights and contracts including contract formation and negotiation, breach of contract, non-compete and real estate. In conjunction with his litigation practice, he also handles appellate matters having handled matters before the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals as well as the Florida Supreme Court and Florida District Courts of Appeal.

Willis received his juris doctor, with honors, from University of Florida College of Law.   Outside of the courtroom, he has lectured on Florida Construction Lien Law and presented at seminars regarding architect/engineer liability.
