The “Big Lie:” How Election Fraud Lawsuits Have Spotlighted Ethical Rules Relating to Frivolous Litigation
During this timely, legal ethics presentation as part of the annual meeting of the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association (ADLA), partner Craig Alexander reviewed the rules of professional conduct that prohibit lawyers from taking positions that lack any factual or legal basis. He also discussed the several bar complaints that have been filed against prominent lawyers whose election fraud lawsuits had been dismissed. In addition, his presentation covered the rules of civil procedure, as well as the rules of appellate procedure, in both Alabama and federal courts that empower judges to impose sanctions for frivolous lawsuits.
Craig’s activity in the ADLA also includes serving as the chair of its Amicus Curiae Committee.
