Rumberger Attorney Linda Bond Edwards Appointed as Incoming Vice-Chair of The Florida Bar Judicial Nominating Procedures Committee

ORLANDO, Fla. – March 25, 2015 – Linda Bond Edwards was recently appointed by The Florida Bar President-Elect, Ramon Abadin, as Vice-Chair of The Florida Bar Judicial Nominating Procedures Committee (“JNP”). The position takes effect July 1, 2015. 

The JNP Committee assists the Governor and the judicial nominating commissions in discharging their respective duties under Article V, Section 11, Constitution of Florida. The Committee is also responsible for organizing and presenting annual training programs for all JNC commissioners on the topic of judicial selection and the judicial nominating process. As part of their communications with commissioners, The JNC Committee monitors new or proposed legislation related to the process and suggests new or changes to rules and procedures it believes to be in the best interest of the commissions and the judicial nominating process.

In 2014, Edwards was appointed Chairman of the JNP subcommittee tasked to study and make recommendations for implementing the recommendations from the Florida Bar President’s Special Task Force to Study Enhancement of Diversity in the Judiciary and on the Judicial Nominating Commission. She has previously served as a member and as chair of the Second Judicial Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission.

Edwards devotes her litigation practice to the representation of employers in the private and public sectors in matters involving employment and labor issues.  As a county and circuit mediator certified by the Florida Supreme Court, she also assists parties in resolving their disputes through use of the mediation process.  Edwards also arbitrates employment and commercial disputes privately and through the American Arbitration Association. As a former corporate director of human resources, she brings pragmatic and real world experiences arising from the employer-employee relationship to her legal practice.

Edwards received her juris doctor from Florida State University College of Law. She is a county and circuit court mediator certified by the Florida Supreme Court.
