Week 1

My first week with RumbergerKirk was amazing! It began with a trip to Orlando on Tuesday for orientation. The other summer associates and I were welcomed with a huge breakfast spread in the Orlando office, where I was able to meet attorneys and staff at the firm. After breakfast, we began training. We were also given a tour of the newly renovated Orlando office and then taken to lunch. Later, we met up with some attorneys for happy hour and dinner. I am so thankful for all the amazing people I met in Orlando!

On Wednesday, we completed some more training while we ate lunch, and then parted ways to our respective cities. I was so excited to start in Birmingham!

It’s the little things that make a big difference!

I arrived in the Birmingham office on Thursday morning, where I was greeted by partner Meredith Lees and my mentor, associate Fred Clarke! I was shown my office, which was fully stocked with office supplies and even a cute plant! The firm also treated me to a welcome breakfast where I met everyone in the office. I was so thankful that everyone took the time to meet me! The most exciting parts of Thursday were attending a hearing with partners Rebecca Beers and Mike Rediker, and getting my first assignment from partner Jimmy Walsh. I can’t wait to see what other projects this summer has in store!

On Friday, I was able to join a call for a case I am working on and also joined Fred and associate Julie Potts for lunch at a great restaurant. This was an amazing opportunity to continue getting to know everyone!

I could not have asked for a better first week. I cannot wait to see what is in store for the rest of the summer!
