Notre Dame and Beyond: Reviewing Recent Construction Catastrophes to Discuss the Appropriate Response and Defense

During the International Association of Defense Counsel (IADC) 2020 Midyear Meeting, Miami Partner Bob Fitzsimmons moderated a panel discussion titled, “Notre Dame and Beyond: Reviewing Recent Construction Catastrophes to Discuss the Appropriate Response and Defense.”

Using the recent Notre Dame fire and other construction disasters, the session examined the multiple disciplines engaged in response to catastrophic events including the initial public relations reaction; the interaction (privilege vs. disclosure) with government investigations; the assessment of culpability of design, construction, and maintenance; and the interplay of insurance coverage in the many claims that follow in varying civil and common law jurisdictions.
