Interviewing Best Practices

RumbergerKirk is hosting a series of virtual workshops for Florida A&M University (FAMU) College of Law students during the 2020-2021 academic year. The fourth in a series of five workshops covered Interviewing Best Practices with RumbergerKirk’s human resources team and Orlando office Managing Partner Sally Culley.

The presentation included tips for answering difficult questions and suggestions for resume and cover letter best practices. After the presentation, students participated in breakout sessions where their interview skills were put to the test by answering difficult questions and receiving feedback on their responses.

“Every recruiter and attorney has different preferences so preparation and practice are critical, but it is important to be yourself,” advised Angela Sterley, director of human resources at the firm.

“Be confident but not arrogant,” added Culley. “Be ready to explain why you, with your unique experience, background, and skills, are the right person to hire.”
