Richard Greenberg Elected Secretary of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers
TALLAHASSEE, FL – June 11, 2014 – Richard A. Greenberg, a prominent criminal defense attorney with RumbergerKirk in Tallahassee, was elected secretary of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (FACDL) during its 27th annual meeting in St. Petersburg Beach.
The FACDL is the only statewide not-for-profit organization dedicated solely to promoting excellence and integrity in the practice of criminal law, and is affiliated with the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Greenberg was previously an at-large FACDL board member and is the treasurer for the Tallahassee chapter. He is also a past-president of the Tallahassee chapter.
Admitted to practice in Florida and Georgia, Greenberg concentrates his practice in the areas of professional responsibility, professional licensure defense, and criminal defense. For nearly 25 years, he has focused his practice on representing attorneys in grievance matters before The Florida Bar and representing Florida Bar applicants in proceedings before the Florida Board of Bar Examiners. Greenberg also provides letters of advice on legal ethics issues and serves as an expert witness on legal ethics. In addition to representing attorneys and Florida Bar applicants, he represents professionals in licensure matters before state regulatory bodies.
Greenberg has an extensive background in criminal defense, representing clients in matters ranging from traffic offenses and DUI to offenses punishable by up to life in prison. He has personally tried more than 100 jury trials to verdict, and also has extensive experience representing individuals seeking clemency through the Florida Office of Executive Clemency.
In addition, Greenberg represents clients in appellate matters in both state and federal courts and has appeared for oral argument before the Supreme Court of Florida and before the United States Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. He has been counsel of record in over 75 published opinions.
Greenberg is actively involved in many other legal organizations. He is a member of the Association of Professional Responsibility Lawyers, the Florida Association of Bar Defense Lawyers, and was reappointed to the Professional Ethics Committee of The Florida Bar in 2008. Greenberg also served on the Professional Ethics Committee of The Florida Bar from 1994 – 2003.
Among his many professional honors, Greenberg was selected as the "Lawyer of the Year" for Criminal Defense (Non-White Collar) in Tallahassee by Best Lawyers in America in 2013. He has been listed in Best Lawyers in America every year since 2006 and in Florida Super Lawyers since 2008.
Greenberg earned a juris doctor from the University of Georgia School of Law and a bachelor of arts degree in International Relations, with honors, from Florida State University.
