A Strong Start to the Summer

Week 1

After completing my second year of law school, I could not wait to begin my summer at RumbergerKirk, and week one delivered.

The week kicked off with a trip to Orlando on Monday for orientation alongside the other summer associates. From the welcome breakfast on Tuesday morning to a group dinner that evening, it was the perfect setting to get to know everyone and learn more about the firm from those who know it best.

Orientation covered seminars on legal research, writing, grammar, billing, and case management software, giving us all the foundational tools we will need moving forward. A highlight was hearing from former summer associates who are now attorneys at the firm. Their candid advice and genuine enthusiasm for RumbergerKirk made it clear that this is a place where people want to be long term.

What stood out most in Orlando was how invested the partners are in the summer associates. Every session felt purposeful, and every conversation reinforced that this firm takes its people seriously.

On Wednesday, I traveled back to Miami, and Thursday marked my first day in the Miami office. The day began with a warm welcome, followed by the Miami Attorneys Luncheon, an office tour, and a happy hour to close things out. I also connected with my mentor, Nick, who I can already tell will be a great resource throughout the summer.

From conducting appellate procedure research to drafting a motion, the real work began immediately and confirmed that I chose the right firm.

If week one is any indication, this is going to be a great summer.
