From Observation to Contribution

Week 2

Last week, one of the highlights was attending my first deposition. Watching attorneys work in real-time, build a narrative through their questions and adapt on the fly was something I could not fully appreciate from a textbook alone.

I also had the opportunity to draft several substantive motions, which allowed me to move beyond observation and contribute to active matters. These assignments required careful research, clear writing, and attention to detail. It was rewarding to produce a meaningful work product.

The firm also provided several valuable learning opportunities throughout the week. We attended a luncheon where attorneys shared recent cases and discussed the legal nuances and strategies involved.

In addition, we participated in a deposition seminar focused on conducting effective depositions and attended a session highlighting the firm’s AI resources and how they support legal practice.

Each experience helped connect what I have learned in law school to the realities of practicing law, and I am looking forward to continuing to build on that foundation throughout the summer.
