It’s hard to believe Week 10 has already arrived. Looking back on everything we accomplished over the past several weeks, it’s amazing to see how every assignment, training session and piece of feedback prepared us for one final milestone: the mock trial.
Leading up to the competition, I was incredibly nervous. No matter how much preparation my partner and I put in, I still worried about presenting our case before experienced attorneys and putting everything we had learned to the test. We spent countless hours reviewing the case, practicing our examinations, refining our arguments and preparing for every possible question. Even then, the nerves remained.
But the moment we stood up to begin, everything changed. Our preparation took over, allowing us to trust the work we had put in throughout the summer and focus on confidently presenting our case. Seeing it all come together was incredibly rewarding and reinforced one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned: preparation builds confidence.
To make the experience even more memorable, my partner and I were selected as the winners of the mock trial. It was an exciting way to conclude weeks of hard work and a moment that reminded me just how much I had grown over the course of the Summer Associate Program.
After the competition, it was wonderful celebrating with the other summer associates during our end-of-program events. After weeks of deadlines, projects and preparation, it was the perfect opportunity to relax, laugh together and reflect on everything we had accomplished as a group.
As I look back on these past 10 weeks, I know without a doubt that participating in RumbergerKirk’s Summer Associate Program was the right choice. Every assignment, mentorship opportunity and new challenge helped me grow both personally and professionally while giving me the confidence to take on experiences I once found intimidating. More importantly, I’m grateful for the relationships I built with the attorneys, staff and fellow summer associates who invested their time, encouragement and knowledge in my success. The lessons I learned and the foundation I built this summer will stay with me throughout my legal career, and I’m excited to carry them into the future.
