My second week at RumbergerKirk was both busy and rewarding.
The week kicked off with training sessions focused on the research tools available to us. While I was already familiar with some of these resources from law school, the trainings provided valuable insights into conducting research more efficiently and streamlining the process. I was able to put that knowledge to work right away on several assignments.
This week also gave me the opportunity to work on projects involving areas of law that were completely new to me. The assigning partners were incredibly supportive in helping me navigate unfamiliar topics, and I enjoyed the challenge of learning something new. After completing each project, I met with the partners to discuss my findings and receive feedback. Every attorney I have worked with has been generous with their time, willing to answer questions and committed to helping me grow. The collaboration and open-door culture here are things I truly appreciate.
Our seminar series continued with a session led by partner Joe Metzger on depositions. It was fascinating to learn about the strategy and procedure behind depositions and then reflect on the ones I observed during my first week. One of the most unique aspects of the Summer Associate Program is the opportunity to immediately apply what we learn through simulated workshops. Next week, we will participate in a mock deposition exercise, and I am excited to practice those skills and receive feedback.
To wrap up the week, I attended the Orlando office attorney lunch, where attorneys shared recent case victories. It was inspiring to see the teamwork, passion and strategic thinking that contributed to successful outcomes for clients. I also had the opportunity to grab lunch with partners Patrick Delaney and Brett Carey. Between the great food and even better conversation, I enjoyed hearing about their legal careers and some memorable stories from along the way.
It has been a busy and rewarding week, and yes, I may be taking full advantage of the free coffee. I am looking forward to seeing what next week brings.
